Okidata creates a printer that uses white toner
OkiData Americas impressed the world when they announced the new Pro920WHT, an addition to their Oki ProColor Series of professional LED printers, and its amazing new white toner printing technology. The Pro920WHT surpasses the competition by being a cost effective LED printing solution with the capabilities of tabloid sized color-critical direct printing on colored and dark media, film and signs. The Pro920WHT now stands alone as a short run industrial printer for graphic arts and production businesses.
The OkiData toner specifications enable a high level of printing versatility on a variety of professional-grade medias and applications. White toner is advantageous because it allows printed lettering and imagery to be directly applied to dark and colored media without the need for additional toner layers, which reduces printing cost and conserves overall toner use.
While OkiData is known for producing printer solutions for both the home and office, the Pro920WHT and the ProColor Series are printing solutions with advanced engineering to meet the demands of professional production. The ProColor Series of printers offer cost effective toner conservation, high speed, lower operating costs and professional graphic printing abilities. The Pro920WHT is affordable enough to be used in an office, but its versatility and speed make it better suited to the industrial printing environment.
The Pro920WHT is not a digital laser printer. Instead, the Pro920WHT uses advanced LED printing technology. LED printing is faster because there are less moving parts. It is also an inline printing system, which allows for thicker media to be processed at the same speed. The speed of LED printing does not sacrifice on image quality. Graphics and text print crisp and sharp despite operating at a faster rate than comparable laser printers.
The printing industry is in awe of the Pro920WHT because it is currently the only LED printer offering white toner incorporation. Printing high speed full-color short run productions is only one of Pro920WHT’s applications. This newest addition to the ProColor Series carries the flexibility of all its predecessors by offering transfer printing for apparel or rigid substrates; color separation options for screen printers; and the full spectrum of tabloid-sized signage printing capabilities.
There are some noticeable differences in the Pro920WHT’s configuration. The OkiData toner specifications for this model do not include black toner. Instead, a composite black is created from the cyan, magenta and yellow toners. Additionally, for optimization, the white toner can be arranged for first or last application in the printing process. This means that the amazing new incorporation of white toner is not a cursory addition with limited purpose, but is in fact a fully functioning toner incorporation capable of being used as base layering or top coating.
OkiData’s Pro920WHT provides the expected options to print on paper, vinyl and other common signage media. However, the added ability to print on wood, ceramics, leathers and coated fabrics is further evidence to the Pro920WHT’s superior level of productivity. This machine is a professional printer with full industrial production capabilities that is priced for office use.
